Is there something else I should be trying to try to diagnose this? Could the radio just be failing on this device? Other channel changes have since made no difference.Īdditionally, I haven't installed any new wireless phones or other electronic devices recently that might interfere. Initially, I changed the channel from auto to a fixed number (I think it was 11) and it improved to about 20 mbps, but within 10 minutes it was slow again, so that could have been coincidental and unrelated to the actual channel change. None of these made any significant, lasting difference in the download speed or consistency. adjusted the antenna positions (both vertical, both horizontal one each way and reversed) used a utility to verify no nearby router channel overlap toggled "b/g protection" setting on and off set channel bandwidth to 20 MHz on the 2.4 GHz radio as recommended elsewhere changing the channel to 1, 3, 6, 11, auto, etc. restoring my saved settings configuration It's a bit faster on 5 GHz than 2.4 GHz, but still way below the 40+ mbps I used to get on both.

For about two weeks, I 've noticed that while my ethernet connected PC gets the full download speed, wifi to my laptop, desktop and phone is slow (3 - 8 mbps), so I believe the issue is not with all of these devices but with the router signal. I run the Merlin firmware on it and keep it up to date. I have an RT-AC68R that I've had for about a year and it always worked fine.
